Samassékou: "It was a difficult time"

Following some difficulties at the outset, Diadie Samassékou has established himself as an important player at the heart of TSG Hoffenheim's midfield and won people over off the pitch too with his extremely positive attitude. In an interview with TSG.TV, the Malan spoke about his objectives at international level and urged discipline during the current corona crisis.

Diadie Samassékou on…

…his first few months at TSG:

"It wasn't quite as easy as I had perhaps imagined it might be. I missed out on pre-season due to the Africa Cup of Nations and was then out injured for two months. It was a difficult time, but things are going well now – I'm fit, I know the TSG philosophy very well and I know how the team likes to play on the pitch."

…his objectives with the national team:

"We're a young team and we need to keep our feet on the ground. But naturally we want to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and go further in the next Africa Cup of Nations than in 2019, when we were eliminated in the last 16."

... the impact of the corona crisis:

"It is important for everyone to follow the instructions and advice provided by medical professionals, to wash their hands and to protect their face. Health is the most important thing – right now more than ever."
