Schreuder: "A special game"

The Baden derby is on the horizon with TSG Hoffenheim set to visit SC Freiburg on Saturday (15:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de). At the pre-match press conference, Alfred Schreuder spoke about the exertions of the English week, the personnel situation and his coaching colleague Christian Streich.

Alfred Schreuder on…

…the recovery following the Bayern match: "It's always difficult in the English weeks. You have to see how the lads withstood the game. You usually don't sleep that well directly after the game. But sleep is the most important thing for recovery. However, that cannot be an excuse. We'll be ready to deliver a good performance."

…the match on Saturday: "It's going to be an intense game. Past meetings with Freiburg have shown that. The way in which we present ourselves is important. I'm expecting a similar game to the one against Union Berlin or Bremen. Freiburg are physically very strong and the team is – as the saying goes – horrible to defend against. They often make the right decision. It's a special match for me. There's a great atmosphere in Freiburg. Due to the construction of their new stadium, it's probably the last time we'll be playing there. We're looking forward to the derby."

…the personnel situation: "In Florian Grillitsch's case, we'll make a decision early on tomorrow. Things were looking fairly good yesterday but we need to wait and see. Some of the lads are still feeling the effects of the game a bit, but others are feeling fresh and could start. For that reason, it's important to have a big squad. In Sargis Adamyan's case, we'll also wait for the training session. It's probably still too soon for Oliver Baumann."

…Christian Streich: "I think the job he's doing in Freiburg is extremely good. It's not normal for a club like that. He's a very good coach, but as a person he's even better."

The social media question of the week:

What brought about Lucas Ribeiro's debut and is he in contention for the Bundesliga too?

"Of course he's in contention for the Bundesliga. Lucas is developing superbly. Wednesday was the right time to bring him on. We're happy that he played so well."

The opposition's form:

Freiburg have lost four of their last six matches in the Bundesliga. Christian Streich's charges currently occupy eighth place with 29 points – one place and four points behind TSG.

Head-to-head record:

The head-to-head record between the teams is even. Both clubs have racked up five wins in the Bundesliga, while there have been nine draws too.
