Striker Dabbur signs for TSG

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have bolstered their ranks over the winter break with the signing of forward Munas Dabbur, who will link up with coach Alfred Schreuder's squad during the Marbella training camp. The 27-year-old Israel international joins TSG – where he has penned a deal until 30 June 2014 – from Spanish side and Europa League record-holders Sevilla.

"Munas is a class striker – agile, quick reactions, precise timing, good technique and dangerous finishing," said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen of an attacker who has gained a reputation and attracted interest across Europe. "Furthermore, he's a strong character and speaks outstanding German, which will definitely help him settle in quickly." The long-term absence of Ishak Belfodil had made it necessary to seek attacking reinforcements and the transfer had only been possible thanks an extraordinary market opportunity, Rosen explained.

Dabbur, who enjoyed spells with Red Bull Salzburg and Grasshopper Zurich before making the move to Sevilla, finished as the top-scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga twice and in the Swiss Super League once. In addition, he lifted the Austrian title with the Red Bulls on three occasions and was also a two-time Israeli champion with Maccabi Tel Aviv. With that in mind, TSG head coach Alfred Schreuder is especially delighted that the 1.82m-tall striker will be part of his squad going forward. The Dutchman said: "Munas is a special footballer whose potential and international experience will undoubtedly enhance our play."

Dabbur, who was born in Nazareth, has been capped 21 times by Israel (seven goals). His career started with spells at Maccabi Tel Aviv and Grasshopper Zurich, before a move to Red Bull Salzburg followed in the summer of 2016. Dabbur registered 72 goals and 31 assists in 128 appearances in all competitions for the Austrians – a haul that included 14 goals in 28 Europa League appearances and four goals in 12 Champions League qualifiers. He also shone in front of goal in Zurich, where he notched 56 goals and 28 assists in 105 matches. Last summer, he completed a transfer to Spanish outfit Sevilla, for whom he played nine times and scored three goals.

"I'm absolutely delighted that the transfer to TSG worked out. Hoffenheim are an exciting team in one of the strongest leagues in the world," said the 27-year-old Israeli. "In recent years, I've come to see Hoffenheim as a club that offers footballers outstanding prospects to continue their development, and I can't wait to make my own contribution to this club's history," stated Dabbur. He will wear the shirt number "10" at TSG.
