Schreuder: "We need to match their level of emotion"

Ahead of the upcoming English week, which starts for TSG Hoffenheim with a Bundesliga trip to Union Berlin on Tuesday evening (20:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de), head coach Alfred Schreuder spoke about the defeat to Augsburg, the opposition and the personnel situation.

Alfred Schreuder on…

…the Augsburg game: "We've analysed the match against Augsburg and put it behind us. There were lots of positives to take from it. We performed very well in possession and created lots of chances. But we still need to improve. We cannot allow ourselves to concede four goals at home."

…the English week: "If you lose on a Friday, then you want to play again straightaway. With that in mind, it's good that we have the opportunity to make amends tomorrow. But to do so, we'll need to be better than Friday."

…Union Berlin: "The stadium and the fans are obviously a huge advantage for Union Berlin. But they've played well away from home too. They're convincing with the ball, play a very physical game and have a very good striker. The team believe in themselves and are doing very well."

…facing the capital club: "It'll be an intense match. We need to match Union's level of emotion. And we'll need to perform well in possession to stop them from making it a physical contest. We want to go forward and attack."

…the personnel situation: "A few of the lads are carrying knocks. But I'm assuming that everyone who was involved on Friday will be able to play. There is a possibility that Kevin Vogt and Benjamin Hübner could be included in the starting XI. And Stefan Posch is available after his suspension.

The social media fan question of the week:

What was it about the team's performance in the last match that left you feeling satisfied and what elements of that do you want to see against Union Berlin?

"On a footballing level, it was one of our best performances. We created a real lot of chances. We want to build on that. I'm convinced that the lads are thinking exactly the same thing. I'm convinced that we'll perform well offensively again at Union Berlin and that we'll get better defensively too."

Head-to-head record:

The match on Tuesday will be their first meeting; the two clubs have never faced each other competitively before.

The opposition's form:

Union Berlin have been in outstanding form in recent weeks. Urs Fischer's charges have been especially successful at home, where they have won each of their past four matches without conceding a single goal.
