Saturday

Hübner the new captain

Kevin Vogt has resigned as captain of Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim. The 28-year-old defender informed the team of his decision following the last fixture of the first half of the season, which his side won 2-1 against Borussia Dortmund on Friday evening. "We respect his decision," said head coach Alfred Schreuder. "It's a regrettable development but it can happen from time to time in a team sport. Kevin and I had open talks. His quick and consistent conduct have given us a sense of clarity and serenity. We'll now all go on a well-deserved holiday and recharge our batteries ahead of a challenging second half-season for which we as a team have ambitious aims." Benjamin Hübner, 30, previously Vogt's deputy, will now wear the armband.

Thursday
