Baumann: ''That was a lot of fun''

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 2-0 win away to 1. FC Union Berlin.

Oliver Baumann: ''That was a lot of fun today. The atmosphere here is really special. This was my first time experiencing it, but when you're out on the pitch you can't let that get to you. We really took the game to them and showed strength in the tackle, especially the substitutes. It was a great performance.''

Sebastian Rudy:  'We were well aware of the danger Union pose with long balls and their robustness in winning second balls, but we showed a lot of strength in defence today. Union only really had two proper chances. Oli did exceptionally well to make that save. Moments of emotion like the one after the second goal are the whole reason we love football. It was so important to keep a clean sheet today.''

Ihlas Bebou: ''We knew what to expect today and we had a feeling it probably wasn't going to be a very pretty match. We wanted all three points and we did all we could to get them over the 90 minutes. Scoring the first goal helped us so much. We're so happy with the win. Getting a win on the road feels brilliant after the past few weeks, now we want to build on it.''

Alfred Schreuder: ''We're obviously delighted, although I actually think we deserved a win more in our last match. We certainly didn't play any better today, but we were up for the fight. That's so important. We knew that it wasn't going to be easy. The lads really battled out there. We're very happy with the way this group of players have come on. We showed real character today.''

Urs Fischer (Union Berlin coach): ''I wouldn't say the win is undeserved, but it was maybe a bit lucky. We put in a good performance, but good just didn't cut it. We seemed to be lacking a certain something in much of our play. Hoffenheim had the right fighting spirit. We have to learn from this and up our game at the weekend.''
