Uth: "Both teams will adopt an attacking approach"

Sunday (18:00 CET, Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de) sees Mark Uth return to Sinsheim, his former stomping ground, to take on Hoffenheim for the first time since leaving the club for Schalke in the summer of 2018. In an interview with achtzehn99.de, the 28-year-old spoke about the upcoming match, S04's start to the season and the reunion with his former team-mates.

Mark, Sunday will be your first return to Sinsheim since your transfer in the summer of 2018, having missed out on both fixtures last season through injury. Are you looking forward to the reunion?

"Absolutely. Especially with the lads who I still know, but also some of the staff too. TSG have a beautiful stadium as well, so all the ingredients are in place for it to be a match to get really excited about.

Do you still keep in contact with some of your former team-mates?

"Yes, of course. I write with two or three of the lads from time to time and exchange news with them."

You've made a strong start to the season and you currently occupy sixth position with seven games played. How do you assess Schalke's campaign to date?

"It's gone really well for us so far, we've had a successful start to the season. However, only seven rounds of matches have been played and you can't let yourself get carried away because we have a long season ahead. That said, I think that we've performed well until this point and dominated a lot of games; long may it continue."

TSG caused a bit of a stir by winning in Munich last time out. Where do you think Hoffenheim's strengths lie?

"TSG are a team with a lot of footballing quality. Their style is very high-risk but they do play some really good football going forward. We'll need to be on high alert to deal with their strikers, who are quick, and their defenders, who push up high."

What kind of game are you expecting on Sunday?

"I think that both teams will adopt a very attacking approach and I'm expecting a very good, entertaining game which produces a few goals and hopefully ends in a victory for us."
