Rudy drafted into national team squad

There was good news on Monday as Sebastian Rudy was drafted into the German national team squad. The Hoffenheim man has been called up by coach Joachim Löw for the upcoming international fixtures at home to Argentina and away to Estonia.

Midfielder Sebastian Rudy is set to make his international comeback, having been drafted into the Germany squad for the international fixtures at home to Argentina (Wednesday at 20:45 CET) and away to Estonia (Sunday at 20:45 CET). "We're delighted for and with Sebastian that he has rediscovered his rhythm so quickly after what was a complicated season for him. He's already demonstrated in the first seven matches how important he can be for us and I'm convinced this call-up will give him an additional boost, allowing him to be an even more dominant figure for us on the pitch," said a delighted director of football Alexander Rosen of the 29-year-old's call-up.

The TSG midfielder made his international debut in a 2-0 win over Poland on 13 May 2014 and has now racked up 27 appearances for Germany, scoring one goal. Rudy was included in the national team squad for the World Cup last year and featured in the group-stage clash with Sweden.

"The German national team is still on my mind. But I obviously know that I'll need to play very well at TSG consistently to play my way back into contention. However, I'll do everything in my power to draw attention to myself. Playing for the national team again is one of my objectives," the midfielder had said in an interview for the September edition of the club magazine SPIELFELD. Now he's in the squad again.
