Kasim Adams to join Düsseldorf on loan

Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim have agreed a deal to loan Kasim Adams to fellow Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf until 30 June 2020. The 24-year-old defender moved to the Kraichgau in the summer of 2018, joining TSG from Swiss first-tier outfit Young Boys. His current contract with the club is set to expire in the summer of 2023.

''Kasim has a lot of potential, but he needs regular game time to establish himself in the league. We've mutually arrived at the decision that a spell out on loan is the best solution,'' says Alexander Rosen, Director of Football at TSG, who went on to evoke the current strength in depth across the squad, particularly in defense.

According to Rosen, Fortuna coach Friedhelm Funkel and Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel (Director of Scouting and International Relations at TSG from 2011 to 2018) had: ''made a lot of effort to acquire Kasim over the past few weeks, which really demonstrates the faith they have in him. This will help him progress and it also gives us the feeling that he's in the right hands for the duration of his spell out on loan.''

Adams joined TSG's pre-season preparations later than many of his teammates due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations as part of the Ghana national team, ultimately exiting the competition in the round of 16. The central defender moved to Hoffenheim in 2018 after winning the Swiss title with former club Young Boys. The Ghanaian previously had spells at Spanish clubs CD Leganés and RCD Mallorca as well as hometown team Medeama SC. Several injuries meant the defender was restricted to 13 appearances in the Bundesliga during his debut season at TSG.
