Training camp gets off to successful start

TSG Hoffenheim arrived in Windischgarten, Upper Austria, where their summer training camp is taking place, on Thursday. Coach Alfred Schreuder put his charges through their paces in a first training session at the complex that same afternoon.

"The surroundings are really beautiful here. I already knew that because I was here with TSG two years ago. The pitch is super and we have top conditions," said a satisfied Alfred Schreuder of the start to the training camp.

A TSG contingent comprising of 30 players had flown from Mannheim to Linz in the morning, before taking the team bus to Windischgarsten. The first training session took place that same afternoon. Only Andrej Kramaric, Kevin Vogt, Philipp Ochs and Ishak Belfodil, who are all carrying minor injuries, trained individually. "The lads had a regeneration session today to recover from yesterday's friendly and the travel," explained Schreuder.

Amiri back in training

Having taken a delayed holiday after participating in the U21 European Championships, midfielder Nadiem Amiri returned to training for the first time this pre-season on Thursday. That means Kasim Adams, who took part in the Africa Cup of Nations, is now the sole absentee. "It's good that we almost have the entire squad together. One of the aims of this training camp is to train lots of things in the final third," said Schreuder of his plans for the week.

This is the third time that Hoffenheim have been to Windischgarsten during pre-season. The Upper Austrian municipality offers the players a stunning panorama. The market town, which is located in the Traunviertel, sits at an altitude of 602 metres and is surrounded by the Großer Pyhrgas (2,244 m), Hoher Nock (1,963 m) and Warscheneck (2,389 m) mountains. Windischgarsten is part of the Phyrn-Priel tourist region and has almost 2,500 inhabitants.

On Thursday 25 July, TSG will round off their training camp by playing back-to-back friendlies against Verona (17:00 CET) and Trabzonspor (19:00 CET) in Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting.
