Hoffenheim held to draw in Gladbach

TSG Hoffenheim missed out on an important victory away to Borussia Mönchengladbach, who held their visitors to a 2-2 (1-0) draw. Pavel Kaderabek and Nadiem Amiri twice put the visitors ahead, only for Matthias Ginter and Josip Drmić to bring the hosts level.

Personnel & tactics:

Julian Nagelsmann made two changes to the starting XI that was beaten 4-1 by VfL Wolfsburg last time out. Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was protected by a back three of Kevin Vogt, Ermin Bicakcic and Stefan Posch, who replaced Kasim Adams. Nico Schulz and Pavel Kaderabek began in their usual wing-back berths. The previously suspended Kerem Demirbay returned to the heart of midfield in place of Nadiem Amiri, lining up alongside Florian Grillitsch and Andrej Kramaric, while Nagelsmann opted to stick with the strike partnership of Adam Szalai and Ishak Belfodil.

Schulz moved forward into left midfield as the match progressed, with Bicakcic taking his place at left-back as TSG shifted to a back four. Nagelsmann shuffled the pack for the first time on the 67-minute mark as Posch made way for Kasim Adams. Nadiem Amiri replaced Kramaric in midfield in the 74th minute, shortly after Gladbach's equaliser, with Reiss Nelson replacing Szalai with four minutes to go.

Moment of the match:

Kramaric missed a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 from close range. Ginter scored a rather fortuitous equaliser just minutes later and Gladbach were back in the game.

Number of the game: 200

The 2-2 draw at Borussia Mönchengladbach was the 200th time Kevin Vogt has played in the Bundesliga. The 27-year-old has now made 88 appearances for Hoffenheim in the German top flight.
