Striker Ihlas Bebou signs for TSG

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have signed Togo international Ihlas Bebou. The 25-year-old forward joins from Hannover 96, whose relegation from the Bundesliga has been confirmed. He has signed a contract until 30 June 2023.

"Ihlas is one of the fastest players in the Bundesliga and can be deployed in various different attacking roles. In addition, his technical and footballing abilities are so good that he's extremely difficult to defend against and he is a player that can really make a difference," said TSG director of football Alexander Rosen. He added: "We're very happy that Ihlas Bebou has decided to join us and we're convinced that his quality will improve our game."

Injury has restricted Bebou to just 11 Bundesliga appearances so far in the current campaign, but he has still managed to claim four goals and three assists during that time. All in all, he has made 41 Bundesliga appearances (nine goals and five assists) across his two seasons in Lower Saxony. He had previously played 70 times for Fortuna Düsseldorf in the second tier, scoring 11 goals (14 assists).

"TSG Hoffenheim have made outstanding progress over the course of the past few years and it's a big name for an ambitious player like me," said Bebou, who continued: "I'm convinced that I'm a perfect fit for the club's philosophy and objectives and that it'll be a super place for me to develop further."

Ihlas Bebou moved to North Rhine-Westphalia from Togo at the age of 11 and also has a German passport. He moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2011 before completing a switch to Hannover 96 in 2017. The right-footed forward has been capped 10 times by Togo, with three of those appearances coming at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
