Bicakcic: "We want something from the last game"

Here we bring you the players' and the manager's reaction to the bitter 1-0 defeat against Werder Bremen.

Ermin Bicakcic: "We completely dominated the game, but we're left standing here empty-handed. We're hugely disappointed. It goes without saying that we wanted to get the win, and we actually played a good game, but of course we lost in the end. We had enough chances after falling behind 1-0, but we weren't resolute enough, which is a real shame and very annoying. Now we must concentrate fully on the match in Mainz. We want something from the last game."

Kevin Vogt: "Of course we're disappointed about how the game panned out. We basically scored against ourselves. We had Bremen under control, concede the goal and then we're chasing the game 1-0. It's pretty depressing. We really wanted to claim the three points to give Julian a good send-off. Now we'll have to get the points next week. You can see our desire on the pitch. There's life in the troop as you saw, but we didn't take any points unfortunately. We need to win in Mainz and we'll do everything in our power to make that happen."

Oliver Baumann: "We wanted to get a home win for ourselves and for Julian, of course. We really tried but the ball just didn't want to go in. We were a bit unlucky not to get something out of the game. The will was there and we gave it our all, but we were punished."

Kerem Demirbay: "We dominated the game for 70 minutes and had plenty of chances to make it 1-0. We invested a lot in the match and deserved to get at least one goal, but unfortunately we didn't manage to. It's happened time and again throughout the season that the rebound doesn't fall kindly for us. Hopefully we'll have enough luck in the final match to land a European spot."

Julian Nagelsmann: "We played well for large spells of the game. It wasn't easy to create chances in the first half of the match. We passed up a lot of good chances on the break. We had Bremen's attack completely under control. Then we basically concede an 'own goal'. The game was more open in the second half. We had a couple of good chances, but every cleared ball fell at a Bremen player's feet. That's happened throughout the entire season. The farewell is a bit more restrained of course. I'd like to thank the fans for my time here at this wonderful club. I've always felt really happy here and I look forward to returning to this wonderful region with its wonderful people either as the manager of another team or simply to visit. I will look back fondly on my time here."

Florian Kohfeldt (Werder Bremen's manager): "It was an exciting game. Both teams were missing a couple of players. We defended well for 70 minutes by our standards and passed up one or two chances on the counter. It  was a fierce battle last ten to 15 minutes, and the match could have run out differently, of course."
