SAP and TSG open SAP Interactive Data Space

SAP and Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have presented their new project to the public: the SAP Interactive Data Space. The project was given its official launch this Wednesday at TSG’s training centre in Zuzenhausen. The joint innovation project is another milestone in the long-standing technology partnership between the world's largest provider of business software and one of the world’s most innovative football clubs.

The SAP Interactive Data Space brings together all of TSG Hoffenheim’s data relevant to sports and business. This data can then be analysed immediately in the unique collaborative space using SAP software solutions. Trainers and players also have the opportunity to use the room for interactive team meetings and data-based tactical planning.

The SAP Interactive Data Space boasts several innovations, such as the interactive meeting table, whose 16 seats are each equipped with an individual touch screen. Among other things, users can access SAP solutions such as SAP Digital Boardroom, SAP Sports One as well as an app for jointly designing match tactics.

The second innovation is a seven-meter-wide glass display located at the front of the room. This glass wall serves as a projection surface for different software solutions, visualisations of data analysis or individual content, for example projection of smartphone screens. The glass is interactive and allows users to edit content by touch.

The SAP Interactive Data Space is housed in the same building as the Footbonaut and is located in the immediate vicinity of the achtzehn99 rehabilitation centre, the training centre of the first team and the U23s, as well as the offices of the club’s board of management. This demonstrates TSG's commitment to creating optimal conditions to ensure that the club can not just reap the long-term benefits of its status as a pioneering organisation in the fields of diagnostics and research, but also be able to further expand its capacities.

"For years now, TSG Hoffenheim has followed an approach focused on structured data gathering and associated scientific studies. The club then ensures that the results are incorporated into its own actions," says Christian Klein, chief operating officer and member of the executive board of SAP SE. "With the SAP Interactive Data Space, TSG can continue this development. All of us at SAP are proud that our technology can help contribute to success in the world of professional football."

"The SAP Interactive Data Space is part of a newly built complex in our training centre in Zuzenhausen and can therefore provide perfect support to our daily work, both on the sporting as well as the management side of things," said Dr. Peter Görlich, managing director of TSG Hoffenheim. "We are constantly working towards expanding our technological leadership in the Bundesliga, and the SAP Interactive Data Space is the latest example of our strategy to focus on the use of customised innovation and new technologies in order to optimise our performance."
