Kramaric seals victory over Nuremberg

Bundesliga Matchday 25 saw TSG Hoffenheim grind out the important home win they had been hoping for against 1. FC Nuremberg. The Kraichgau club beat the basement boys 2-1 (1-0) at the PreZero Arena thanks to two goals from man-of-the-match Andrej Kramaric.

Personnel & tactics:

Julian Nagelsmann made three changes to the starting XI that was beaten 3-2 by Eintracht Frankfurt last time out. Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was protected by a back three in which Ermin Bicakcic, replacing the suspended Kasim Adams, played alongside Stefan Posch and the returning Kevin Vogt. Pavel Kaderabek returned at right-back after serving a suspension, with Joshua Brenet dropping to the substitutes' bench, while Nico Schulz retained his usual left-back berth.

Kerem Demirbay was sidelined through injury and replaced by Florian Grillitsch, who partnered Nadiem Amiri at the heart of midfield, while the attacking triumvirate of Joelinton, Andrej Kramaric and Ishak Belfodil all kept their places in the starting XI.

The first substitution came on the 69-minute mark as Adam Szalai replaced Posch. TSG subsequently switched to a back four and Kramaric fell back into a midfield position. Whenever the home side had the ball, Grillitsch dropped back between Vogt and Bicakcic. A short while later, Leonardo Bittencourt came on for Amiri in a like-for-like switch (72). The third and final change came when David Otto was handed his second Bundesliga appearance in attack with Belfodil making way (85).

Moment of the match:

The winning goal: Kramaric re-established the lead for Hoffenheim just minutes after Nuremberg had equalised. The two goals in this game were the 44th and 45th for the Croatian since his arrival in the Bundesliga, moving him ahead of Vedad Ibisevic (43) and into second in the list of the club's all-time record goalscorers. He is now only one goal behind all-time top scorer Sejad Salihovic, 46.

Number of the game: 5

It was the fifth time Andrej Kramaric has taken a Bundesliga penalty this season and the fifth time he has converted from the spot.
