Spoils shared in Leipzig

TSG Hoffenheim were just minutes away from an away win at RB Leipzig on Matchday 23, having taken a first-half lead through Croatian forward Andrej Kramaric, only for Willi Orban to restore parity in the 89th minute to salvage a point and a 1-1 draw for the hosts.

Personnel & tactics:

Julian Nagelsmann made one change to the starting XI that claimed a 3-0 home win over Hannover 96 last time out. Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was protected by the centre-back pairing of Kasim Adams and Stefan Posch while Florian Grillitsch, who dropped back between Adams and Posch whenever the visitors had the ball, returned from suspension and replaced the injured captain Kevin Vogt. Nico Schulz and Pavel Kaderabek retained their respective wing-back roles.

Nadiem Amiri and Kerem Demirbay started in central midfield, while the front three of Ishak Belfodil, Andrej Kramaric and Joelinton – who sometimes dropped back into midfield – remained unchanged.

TSG Hoffenheim made their first substitution on the 64-minute mark when Ermin Bicakcic came on at centre-back and replaced Amiri, whose position in midfield was taken by Grillitsch. Adam Szalai replaced Belfodil five minutes later, with the third and final change coming when the injured Joelinton made way for Reiss Nelson with eight minutes remaining.

Moment of the match:

The opening goal. Ishak Belfodil and Joelinton won the ball back on the halfway line and combined to set up the Brazilian. His effort was beaten away by Leipzig's Gulacsi, but Andrej Kramaric was on hand to slot home the loose ball. It was the Croatian striker's 43rd Bundesliga goal, meaning he is now level with Sejad Salihovic as the club's all-time record goalscorer in the top-flight.

Number of the game: 9

The 1-1 draw at RB Leipzig was the ninth successive away game in which Hoffenheim have avoided defeat – a club record. Furthermore, it was Alexander Rosen's 200th Bundesliga match since being appointed the TSG sporting director.
