Demirbay: "The win gives us a boost"

Kerem Demirbay: "We were clearly the better team across the 90 minutes today and we deserved to win. We conceded two goals from set-pieces because we didn't defend well enough. The win today does us a lot of good. We were under pressure before the game due to our winless run. We dealt with it very well and we performed well. The win gives us a boost. We're now in sixth and in a good position."

Alexander Rosen: "There's a lot of relief and satisfaction. We put ourselves under pressure during the week. The first half against Bayern, all those games without a win – it simply didn't give us a good feeling. We delivered a stable performance from the beginning, remained calm and gave away little from open play. An issue that unfortunately remains ongoing for us is goals conceded from set-pieces. Freiburg continued to look extremely dangerous from dead-balls even once the score was 3-2 to us. But all in all, it was a very good performance and a highly-deserved victory."

Oliver Baumann: "It was a very important victory that does us all good. That can now be a first building block for the objectives we want to achieve. It's very, very difficult to play here in Freiburg. Hats off to the team for how they went into battle and didn't let it get the better of them. I'm happy that I was able to help with some saves after we were 3-2 up. It was very important that we survived that period. But obviously it's too easy the way that we conceded goals. We need to be better in that respect if we want to qualify for international competition. Having said that, the way we created the third goal was incredible. It doesn't get much better than that."

Julian Nagelsmann: "It was a very entertaining and intense match from both teams. In the first half we defended very well but we didn't play well once we had the ball. I'm not entirely satisfied because we made it tense for ourselves with our defending from set-pieces. In the second period we didn't defend as well as we had but we did play very well with the ball. Then, fortunately, we got the all-important goal to put us 4-2 ahead from one of our many counters."

Christian Streich (SC Freiburg coach): "We made a good start to the match and then we basically scored an own goal. That was extremely bitter. We got into the second half well too, but then we gave away what was an unnecessary penalty. That's too much against a team like Hoffenheim. We made too many mistakes."
