Vogt: "The match will be like a final"

Julian Nagelsmann and Kevin Vogt spoke at the press conference prior to the Champions League clash with Olympique Lyon (Wednesday at 21:00 CET, Live Ticker on achtzehn99.de) about their first meeting with the French side, the group and the personnel situation.

Julian Nagelsmann on…

…the atmosphere in the squad: "The atmosphere is very good. We've picked up some good results in the Bundesliga recently. We would've liked to get through in the DFB Cup, but we're back on track in the league."

…the personnel situation: "We've taken two extra outfield players because I wanted to get an impression of the entire squad in training. I like to get another impression of how the players are feeling on the day before the match. It'll be complicated to pick the starting XI."

…the approach: "We'll field another attacking line-up tomorrow and try to create lots of chances like we did in the first match. But at the same time it'll be about being more solid in defence. There'll be a few changes compared to the first match."

Kevin Vogt on…

…the group: "The match will be like a final. If we want to still be in with a chance of progressing, it'll be very important for us to win tomorrow. And that'll be how we approach it."

…his own involvement tomorrow: "I'm confident that I'll be able to play tomorrow. I felt during the Leverkusen game that it'd be better for me to go off. I'm very optimistic that I'll be able to feature."

…the first match: "It was like we expected. They have a lot of talented individuals and good players, especially in attacking areas. After the first 15 minutes, when Lyon were better, we took the initiative. We need to sort out our individual errors. If we can build on the performance from the first match, then I'm positive that we can get the three points."

The opposition's form:

Lyon's last competitive defeat came at the beginning of October, when they were beaten 5-0 by league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. Since then, Les Gones have picked up two wins and two draws. They currently sit fourth in Ligue 1 after 12 rounds of matches.

Head-to-head record:

Joelinton salvaged a 3-3 draw in stoppage time when the two teams met at the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena a fortnight ago.
