Nelson fires TSG to victory over Augsburg

TSG Hoffenheim claimed a 2-1 (0-0) victory over FC Augsburg on Matchday 11 thanks to a late winner scored by Reiss Nelson.

Personnel and tactics

Julian Nagelsmann made three changes to the starting line-up that drew 2-2 against Olympique Lyon in midweek. Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was protected by a back four of Pavel Kaderabek, Ermin Bicakcic, Kevin Vogt and Nico Schulz, while Havard Nordtveit and Leonardo Bittencourt replaced Kasim Adams and the injured Florian Grillitsch alongside Kerem Demirbay in midfield. Adam Szalai replaced Ishak Belfodil in attack, where he lined up in a front three alongside Andrej Kramaric and Joelinton.

Vincenzo Grifo replaced Bittencourt once TSG had taken the lead through Andrej Kramaric (66). Reiss Nelson, who scored the winner, replaced Schulz in the 82nd minute, with the third and final change coming in the closing stages when Julian Nagelsmann introduced Joshua Brenet in place of Kramaric.
