''We're focusing on our strengths''

In his press conference before the home match against VfB Stuttgart (Saturday 18:30 CET), Julian Nagelsmann gave his thoughts on Saturday's opponent as well as the match against Olympique Lyon.

Julian Nagelsmann on...

… the match against Lyon: ''On the one hand you have to consider the entire match. With the chances we had it's annoying that we weren't able to win. On the other hand we ought to be happy with the way we came back from being down on the scoreboard. It felt good to get the equalizer in the last few minutes and it gives us a chance of making it to the next round. I'm happy that we got some form of reward in the end.''

… the personnel situation: ''We didn't pick up any additional injuries. Regarding Leonardo Bittencourt, I think he'll be able to play again soon. He's back in full training today for the first time since his injury. When you have players coming back from injury you have to monitor them to see if they'll be able to get back in action. There will be a few changes in the starting line-up.''

… the game on Saturday: ''When a new coach comes in it normally leads to a bit of an upturn. The change of coach means that it's not so easy to analyse them. We're going to really force the issue and focus on our strengths. Stuttgart's game against Dortmund was a real tale of two halves. It's always a mistake to underestimate an opponent in the Bundesliga. As always, it's all about proving we're the better side.''

… VfB Stuttgart: ''They're a team with a lot of new arrivals in the squad. They've yet to get the results they've been looking for. Against BVB, they played better than the scoreline would suggest. I'm confident that VfB will get themselves out of the position they're in.''

The opposition's form

It's only superior goal difference that elevates VfB above bottom side Fortuna Düsseldorf in the league table. With five points from eight matches, the team from Stuttgart find themselves in 17th position.
