"It became difficult after going behind", says Nagelsmann

TSG Hoffenheim lost their away match to promoted side Fortuna Düsseldorf 1-2 on matchday 3 of the Bundesliga. The players and manager offered the following opinions after the match.

Julian Nagelsmann: "Düsseldorf put a lot of heart into their win. I'm not satisfied with the result. We played a very good 30 minutes and had excellent chances to take the lead. It would've been completely just if we'd led 2-0. The match changed in character after Kramaric's big chance. I'm not angry about the chances we passed up, but the twelve minutes after that. We were all occupied with the fact we hadn't taken the lead and then completely lost our composure. In doing so, we let Düsseldorf back into the game. It became difficult after going behind. Düsseldorf defended fiercely. In terms of results, it's a wasted day."

Reiss Nelson: "We played well and had any number of chances, but at the end of the day it was Düsseldorf who found the back of the net. We'll continue to work hard and get ourselves well prepared for the big matches coming up against Donetsk and Dortmund."

Nico Schulz: "We started well and played a really good game in the first 30 minutes, with the only thing missing a goal. We got a little bit careless then, conceded the goal for 0-1, and after that Fortuna lined themselves up behind the ball. It got difficult then. If we'd got one or two goals in the first 30 minutes then the whole match would have panned out differently. We need to play with greater conviction and put away our chances: that's what it's all about in football. If you don't do that then it'll be difficult against any opponent. You saw today exactly how you can lose such a match."

Friedhelm Funkel (Fortuna Düsseldorf Manager): "Of course we had a litte bit of luck, but it's clearly a Champions League team we're talking about. We showed great passion and also got the luck you require, something we didn't have in Leipzig. After they equalised we were hoping that they wouldn't go on to take the game to 1-2, but then we played a good counterattacking move. Kenan (Karaman) did really well to force his way through and it was clearly a penalty."
