Successful weekend for TSG's women and girls

The Bundesliga team won easily in the Forest of Odes on Saturday, though their match against FV Löchgau on Sunday was cancelled due to a storm. Meanwhile, the U20s demolished FC Freiburg II 6-0 (3-0) and the U17, U15, U14 girls' teams all returned from the "Schnüdel-Girls-Cup" in Schweinfurt as tournament winners.

The Bundesliga team delivered another show of strength going forward on Saturday as they put 14 goals past an Odenwald XI. Jana Beuschlein bagged four and Tabea Waßmuth hit a hat-trick, with Nicole Billa (two), Anne Fühner (two), Isabella Hartig, Lena Lattwein and Maxi Rall the other scorers for coach Jürgen Ehrmann's side. "Our chance conversion could've been even better," bemoaned the 57-year-old tactician. TSG were due to face Oberliga outfit FV Löchgau the following day but the match was called off due to a storm. The final friendly of pre-season phase one will be played at 18:00 CET on Friday, when TSG square off against league rivals SC Freiburg in the Bechtle Stadium in Karlsbad. "The match on Friday will be a test for us when we don't have the ball. Freiburg did lose some players, but they've brought in some good new signings too. Despite the character we've shown in our friendlies, this will be the first real indication of where we're at," said Ehrmann.

The U20s, jointly coached by Siegfried Becker and Lena Forscht, followed the senior squad's lead on Sunday by beating Regionalliga outfit SC Freiburg II by a 6-0 (3-0) scoreline. The goals were scored by Vanessa Leimenstoll (two), Mayalu Rausch (two), Chantal Hagel and Laura Wienroither. A harder test lies ahead for the U20s on Wednesday evening (18:30 CET), when they come up against Bundesliga side SC Sand. "Our attacking players have had the opportunity to build their self-confidence in our previous games," said Becker and Forscht, adding: "On Wednesday, our defence will be tested."

Meanwhile, the TSG girls' teams made their mark at the "Schnüdel-Girls-Cup" at 1. FC Schweinfurt on Sunday. The U17s, U15s and U14s all won their respective tournaments without suffering a single defeat. It was to be their last action before taking a three-week break ahead of the new season.
