“A catastrophe” – Lukas Rupp suffers knee ligament tear

Against VfB Stuttgart in the Baden-Württemberg derby on Bundesliga matchday 33, Lukas Rupp suffered a ligament tear in his left knee. The midfielder went down in the VfB half with no opposition players around him and was consequently subbed off in the 20th minute.

Rupp was treated on the pitch and then taken to a hospital in Stuttgart for further tests.

Julian Nagelsmann spoke of a “catastrophe for Lukas” after the game. According to the TSG head coach, the 27 year old “will be available again in October or November.” This means Rupp, who has played 25 competitve matches for Hoffenheim, will miss the final game of the 2017/18 Bundesliga campaign against Borussia Dortmund – a fixture that will decide whether TSG play Champions League football next season.

We all wish Lukas a speedy recovery - come back stronger!
