Passlack to TSG – Toljan to BVB

Jeremy Toljan (23) is leaving TSG Hoffenheim after six years with the club. He will now be playing for league rivals Borussia Dortmund. At the same time, Felix Passlack is moving in the opposite direction. The 19-year-old junior international is moving from the Champions League side to the Europa League side on a two year loan.

“Felix is an exceptional talent and will fit perfectly into our squad,” said Alexander Rosen. “He can be used offensively or defensively on either flank, and therefore gives us plenty of options,” added the TSG footballing director. “When you have a player like Jeremy for so long, you will always be sad to see them go. Jeremy has enjoyed the complete TSG training program, both on and off the pitch, and has developed from a great talent into an established Bundesliga player. It is a fundamental part of our work here, that when the time comes, and taking economic factors into account, we pass on players to other clubs.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann also wishes the U21 European champion and Olympics 2016 silver medal winner “only the best for his new chapter with one of Europe’s top clubs.” The TSG coach is pleased that he was immediately able to add a new player to his squad. “Felix is an extremely dynamic player with an enormous amount of potential, and he is certainly one of the biggest talents of his year group. Despite his young age, he has already demonstrated his experience, and that, along with his mentality and character, means he is a great fit for our team.
Passlack made 14 Bundesliga appearances for BVB and played twice for them in the Champions League, scoring one goal in the process. Whilst he played for Borussia’s youth team, they were crowned German champions for four consecutive years. In 2015 he was named the best player in his year group and was awarded the gold Fritz-Walter medal.

In 2011, Jeremy Toljan moved to TSG from VfB Stuttgart’s youth academy. He made 56 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim, scoring two goals. He also made six appearances in the DFB-Pokal. To date he has been selected 38 times to play for German national youth sides.
