#TSGBMG reaction: "A sensational game"

Thoughts of players and manager after the 5-3 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Julian Nagelsmann: We saw from the first minute why I enjoy watching Gladbach play. It was a very attractive game and I was very pleased with the first-half. We used the ball well and were unlucky to concede the equaliser. I was a little shocked when that happened, but I never had the feeling that it would become really tight. I knew that the game would be open in the second half It was a crazy game and I’m happy that we got the win. We’re pleased with the win today.

Dieter Hecking: It was a great game with good football played by both teams who wanted to attack. I gave my team a huge compliment for the way they played today. Of course, we would’ve liked to have come away with a point. For me, it was a great afternoon and I’m proud of my team and the way they played. If weh ad taken the lead after half-time, then it would probably have been a different game. But that wasn’t the case and we conceded an unfortunate goal which can happen. But still we came back. It was the sort of game that you see in the Bundesliga.

Alexander Rosen: I’m very happy and want to compliment the team. Today we witnessed a great football match. The coach will perhaps criticise the defensive performance, but we had some great moments, scored great goals and, in the end, deserved to win.

Kerem Demirbay: Form e and the team it was a successful day after a sensational game. When you look at how the match went, we kept coming back and deserved to win in the end. It’s for days like these that I became a footballer. This game had everything: passion, emotion, fight and heart. That’s what football’s all about.

Oliver Baumann: We’re very happy. We made it difficult for ourselves, but we fought hard and deserved to win. We played against a top team and deserved the victory. Obviously, we’re unhappy to have conceded three goals but hats off to the way we came back, as ever, remained positive and turned the situation around.

Adam Szalai: We led 2-0 so to go in at half-time 2-2 is not ideal. We showed great character and I’m delighted that we managed to overcome this good footballing side. At half-time, the coach said that we should keep playing with the same emotion and in the same way and if we did that, we’d win the game, so it’s nice that it turned out that way.
