A loss in their 300th league game – TSG falter at HSV

TSG won’t be bringing back any points with them upon their return home from the north. Hamburg SV handed the team their third loss of the season, as the result in Hamburg finished 2-1 to the hosts. Andrej Kramaric was on the score-sheet for TSG, whilst Aaron Hunt scored a brace for HSV.

Personnel and tactics:

TSG made three changes to their side for the game. The injured Kerem Demirbay was replaced by Pirmin Schwegler, and Marco Terrazzino started in favour of Nadiem Amiri, who was on the bench. In addition, Ermin Bicakcic started on the right side for Jeremy Toljan. Oliver Baumann started in net, and in front of him where the trio of Kevin Vogt, Benjamin Hübner, and Niklas Süle. Sebastian Rudy and Terrazzino joined Schwegler in the midfield. Steven Zuber was deployed on the left, and Andrej Kramaric and Sandro Wagner started up top. Pavel Kaderabek had to withdraw himself from the squad shortly before the game due to lower back pains.

TSG made a substitution even before the second-half kicked off, as Rudy did not come back on to the pitch, and instead Nadiem Amiri took his place. Baumann then took on the role of captain from Rudy. Nagelsmann made a second change 61 minutes in, choosing to pull Terrazzino from the match and plug in Lukas Rupp in his place. After the second goal for the opponents, Nagelsmann went on the offensive and substituted defender Bicakcic for striker Mark Uth.

Moment of the match:

Lukas Rupp is back. His return to the pitch comes 120 days after his last deployment on 9th December against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Stat of the game:

TSG participated in their 300th Bundesliga game in Hamburg, 32 of which have come under Julian Nagelsmann. Andrej Kramaric’s goal marked the club’s 200th, but in a perfect world the Bundesliga game would have played out somewhat differently.
