Schalke match reaction

All the post match reaction following the 1-1 draw with Schalke 04.

Julian Nagelsmann: The point is okay. We had more chances and were the better team, and we could have won the game. We had more to give and I was satisfied with the way we approached the game. We stayed patient and apart from their goal I cannot remember a clear chance for them. It was definitely a better away performance than in Wolfsburg.

Markus Weinzierl: We have to take a point. We started well and took the lead after a lovely mood, but it did not give us any security. We took a very strong team a bit lightly and they had most of the game. We wanted to see out the 90 minutes but were not able to do it. Their goal annoys me because we had possession three times in the lead up. TSG were brilliant today and we did not bring our best stuff.

Alexander Rosen: I’m pleased because we stayed patient and got our reward but we not completely happy because we could have won the game today. We were dominant. We were very good going forward but something was lacking in the final ball and that’s what was missing most today. But we will take the point and start preparing for Ingolstadt next Saturday.

Sebastian Rudy: We were better than Schalke and we had to equalise earlier if we wanted to win the game. The draw is not a disaster, but a draw was very much within our reach. Schalke were strong at the back and tried to counter if they could. We kept trying and deserved our goal at the end.

Oliver Baumann: The goal we conceded was strange. We gave more over the course of the 90 minutes. To just take a point is a little bit disappointing because we played well. We definitely had two goals in us today.

Kevin Vogt: That was a great performance. We were so much better over the 90 minutes, so I am a little bit disappointed. If we had started the game the way we ended it we could have won. We created so much but could not get the ball over the line. We just lacked some clarity to give ourselves even more chances and the opportunity to score more goals.

Ermin Bicakcic: Schalke defended well after taking the lead, so there’s nothing wrong with a point. We were not able to put the finishing touches on in the final third. We kept our heads after going behind early - that was crucial today and says a lot about the team. We had space which we could have used better. We could easily have taken all three points back to Hoffenheim.
