Baumann commits to TSG until 2021

TSG Hoffenheim have today announced they have extended the contract of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann until 2021.

Director of Football Alexander Rosen was delighted about the signature from a ‘key team player’, who has ‘developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the league in recent years.’ Rosen believes the signature is an ‘excellent of sign of the connection between the team and the fans.’

Head Coach Julian Nagelsmann added: “Oliver is a crucial cog in the team both on and off the pitch. I’m delighted to say we’ll be able to extend our working relationship together.”

The 26 year-old, who joined Hoffenheim from SC Freiburg at the start of the 2014/15 season, sees his contract extension as ‘a confirmation of his work for Hoffenheim,’ and looks forward to the ‘trust’ afforded to him by the club.

He added: “I feel very at home here and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead for us. The team, the coaching staff of manager Julian Nagelmann and detailed, meticulous work together with goalkeeping coach Michael Rechner has been vitally important for his development as a player and as a result the extension is seen as the natural and logical next step.

Baumann has appeared in goal 84 times for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and six times in the cup. In total he has made 215 starts in Germany’s top division.
