Tenth draw of the season against Werder Bremen

TSG maintained their unbeaten run on Matchday 16 of the Bundesliga. Julian Nagelsmann’s team drew 1-1 against Werder Bremen on Wednesday evening. Sandro Wagner scored to put TSG ahead in the first half, but Serge Gnabry equalised for Bremen just three minutes before half-time. TSG Hoffenheim end the year in fifth place in the Bundesliga table.

Line-up and tactics:

Julian Nagelsmann made one change to the starting line-up that faced Dortmund last week, with Eugen Polanski coming in to replace the suspended Sebastian Rudy. Oliver Baumann started in goal. Kevin Vogt, Benjamin Hübner and Niklas Süle played in front of him in defence. Eugen Polanski, Nadiem Amiri and Kerem Demirbay started in centre midfield. Pavel Kaderabek started on the right wing, with Jeremy Toljan on the left. Sandro Wagner and Mark Uth started upfront.

Pirmin Schwegler came on in the 65th minute to replace Demirbay in midfield. Andrej Kramaric also came on to replace Uth. Amiri made way for Baris Atik just ten minutes before the final-whistle.

Moment of the match:

TSG created a lot of chances, especially on the counter, but they didn’t make the most of them. Werder managed to keep themselves in the game for a long time and managed to find that all important equaliser in the 87th minute.

And he scores again! Sandro Wagner scored the opener today for TSG just like he did last week against Borussia Dortmund. Sandro Wagner now has nine goals to his name this season, 19 in 2016. He is the highest-scoring German player in the Bundesliga this season!
