Marcel Risse: "TSG are having a very good season"

We were completely stunned when you scored that goal against Gladbach a few weeks ago, just like the one you scored against TSG in the DFB Cup. Seriously, how do you do it?

Marcel Risse: Firstly, I’m happy that I scored those two goals. I’ve been practising shooting from distance for years. I always intend to hit a certain target, but sometimes you get a bit of luck with the flight of the ball.

You received the Goal of the Month award for your goal against TSG in the DFB Cup. How important is winning such an award to you?

Risse: I’m very pleased about it because this award is really something special. However, the most important thing was that it was the equaliser which meant we were able to qualify for the next round.

You’ve got two goals and two assists to your name so far this season. Is this the best Marcel Risse we’ve ever seen?

Risse: I don’t really know about that. I’m feeling really good at the moment and I’m enjoying playing with this team. It makes me happy and keeps me motivated.

Will the result in the DFB Cup play a role on the pitch on Saturday?

Risse: No, not for us.

TSG are unbeaten in the league this season. What do you think of your opponent?

Risse: They are having a very good season and they also played well in the DFB Cup. We are level on points with TSG at the moment. I think both teams can be happy with the start they’ve made to this season.

What kind of match are you expecting on Saturday?

Risse: It will be a tight match and both teams will want to win the three points.
