A clash of two offensively strong sides

TSG haven’t won against Bayern in their last 16 attempts but in Munich two unbeaten teams, who are also the strongest offensively in the league, go head to head. Check out the best stats and facts ahead of this weekend’s top game below.

Did you know…

… both team are unbeaten in the league this season?

Bayern have won seven of their nine Bundesliga games this season, sharing the spoils on two occasions and TSG have also been in great form so far this season, winning five times and drawing four times. RB Leipzig are the only other unbeaten team in this Bundesliga season, and rather unsurprisingly, these three teams also make up the top three. The last time there was a clash of two unbeaten teams on matchday ten was in the 2014/15 season, as TSG lost 3-1 to Borussia Mönchengladbach. Hopefully history doesn’t repeat itself on Sunday.

… one team’s run may come to an end on Saturday?

The team from Bavaria are unbeaten in 19 Bundesliga games (15 wins, four draws), while TSG’s run stretches to nine matches. Together with Leipzig, these are the longest unbeaten streaks in the league and a win for either side on the weekend could prolong their own while ending their opponents’.

… TSG are on the hunt for a record?

If Hoffe remain unbeaten in Munich, Julian Nagelsmann’s team will set a TSG Bundesliga record. From May until October in 2014, Hoffenheim also went ten games without losing so this is an objective certainly worth fighting for.

… offensively, TSG are hardly inferior to Bayern?

Bayern have the more shots on goal than any other Bundesliga team (161), however, TSG are just nine efforts behind them in second place. Additionally, only Bayern have more goals in the first half of games than TSG (10-8) this season and again, both teams are ranked top for creating clear goal-scoring chances (Bayern: 31, TSG: 28).

… both teams like to attack from the flanks?

So far this season, Hoffe have found a teammate with 31.9 percent of their crosses to Bayern’s slightly inferior 31.5 percent - only Werder Bremen have been more accurate with their crosses (33.3 percent).

… Bayern and Hoffe are two of the best-tackling teams in the Bundesliga?

The reigning champions have won 53.3 percent of their challenges and are therefore only behind BVB (53.8 percent) in this statistic. Meanwhile, TSG  make the top six in this department, as they’ve won 51.1 percent of their challenges.
