TSG draw with Bilbao

Julian Nagelsmann’s side spaced Spanish top-flight side Athletic Bilbao on Friday evening. The game finished level, although TSG were the dominant force and created the better chances. Oscar Gil gave the visitors the lead; Andrej Kramaric equalised before the break.

Tactics and line-up:

Oliver Baumann was between the sticks, with Ermin Bicakcic, Kevin Vogt and Fabian Schär protecting him. The midfield consisted of Steven Zuber, Lukas Rupp, Eugen Polanski, Nadiem Amiri and Pavel Kaderabek. Andrej Kramaric and Sandro Wagner were up front.

Philipp Ochs, Marco Terrazzino and Kerem Demirbay replaced Zuber, Amiri and Polanski at the break. Eduardo Vargas and Pirmin Schwegler took the places of Wagner and Rupp with 30 to go. Benjamin Hübner replaced Vogt in the 80th minute.

Reaction:

Julian Nagelsmann: The first half didn’t impress me. We let them dominate the tempo. We improved after the break. We were more intense and could have scored a couple of goals, however, that wasn’t to be. I’m happy with how pre-season has gone. We’ve performed well in all of our friendlies, especially the tougher ones. I’m looking forward to competitive football returning now.
