Benjamin Hübner signs from FCI

TSG have signed Benjamin Hübner from FC Ingolstadt ahead of the new season. The 26-year-old central defender has signed a contract to keep him with the Kraichgau club until 30th June 2020.

Alexander Rosen, directory of first team football at TSG, is “pleased that Benjamin has decided to join us.” Hübner was “one of the key reasons for newly-promoted FC Ingolstadt’s extraordinary achievements” last season. “He defends aggressively and high up the pitch – this fits very well with our playing style. He is very strong in the air and, as a left-footed player, gives us more playmaking options,” said Rosen.

Hübner, whose contract at FC Ingolstadt was set to run until summer 2017, is looking forward to the new challenge. In “intensive discussions” with TSG manager Julian Nagelsmann and Alexander Rosen, he “quickly realised that we are on the same wavelength. It is exciting to see what’s happening here under a young manager and I am looking forward to getting started.”

The 1.93m-tall defender scored one goal in 30 first-division appearances last term. Before securing promotion to the Bundesliga with FCI, Hübner netted six goals in 105 second-division matches for Ingolstadt, SV Wehen Wiesbaden and VfR Aalen.
