Wins for nearly all TSG internationals

Hoffenheim first-team players Pavel Kaderabek, Ermin Bicakcic, Jin-Su Kim, Niklas Süle, Jeremy Toljan and Nadiem Amiri, as well as U23s midfielder Erdal Öztürk, have all been in action during the first international break of the new season.

TSG full back Jin-Su Kim and his South Korea side got their qualification campaign for the 2018 World Cup in Russia off to the perfect start with an 8-0 win against Laos in Hwaseong. Kim was brought on in the 69th minute for the side managed by German Uli Stielike, who now lead Group G with two wins in two matches and zero goals conceded.

U21 victory for Süle and Toljan

On Thursday evening, the Germany U21 side also played their first game of the new season, which culminates with the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next summer. Hoffenheim players Niklas Süle and Jeremy Toljan both featured in Horst Hrubesch's starting line-up.

It was Süle's first game for the U21s since his cruciate ligament rupture last December, and they fell behind before the break, with Casper Nielsen scoring in the 42nd minute with the visitors’ first good attack of the match. Goals from Timo Werner and Levin Öztunali turned the game around after the break. Süle played the full 90 minutes, whilst Toljan was brought off shortly before the end after putting in a solid performance.

Amiri and Öztürk win with the U20s

The Germany U20 side, which featured Nadiem Amiri and Erdal Öztürk, got their participation in an international round-robin tournament off to a winning start with a convincing 1-0 win against Italy in Lucca. Both players were brought on as second-half substitutes.

Amiri came on in the 65th minute for Joshua Mees, who is currently on loan from TSG at SC Freiburg, and Hoffenheim U23s player Öztürk replaced former TSG midfielder Grischa Prömel at the break. The goalscorers for Germany were Marvin Stefaniak of Dynamo Dresden and Maximilian Eggestein of Werder Bremen.

Defeat for Bosnia, whilst Czech Republic come from behind

The evening didn't go so well for Ermin Bicakcic, who failed to get on the pitch in Bosnia's 3-1 defeat against Belgium. Bosnia took the lead through Edin Dzeko, but Belgium fought back through goals from Fellaini, De Bruyne and Hazard. Bosnia's prospects of qualifying for the finals look bleak – they occupy second-to-last place in Group B with just eight points from seven games.

However, there was better news for Pavel Kaderabek and the Czech Republic. The full back played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win against Kazakhstan. However, the Czechs had to be very patient, with substitute Milan Skoda scoring two late goals to turn the game in their favour. Yuriy Logvinenko had put the visitors ahead in the first half.

Following Iceland's win against the Netherlands, the Czech Republic now sit in second place in Group A, two points behind group leaders Iceland and six points ahead of the third-placed Dutch side.
