Sven Schipplock moves to HSV

Sven Schipplock will leave TSG for fellow Bundesliga side Hamburger SV. The 26-year-old striker signed a contract with HSV until June 2018.

"I had a great time in Hoffenheim, but I felt taking on a new challenge was the right thing to do. I’ll always have fond memories of the club and the fans," said the striker upon his departure. Schipplock arrived on a free transfer from VfB Stuttgart in summer 2011 and made 84 Bundesliga appearances for TSG. He scored 16 goals in the league, and netted nine times in twelve cup games. "Sven decided it was time for a new challenge and we wish him all the best," said TSG sporting director Alexander Rosen.

Schipplock made 25 appearances for Hoffenheim last season. He started eight games and completed 90 minutes once, scoring three goals over the course of the campaign. His contract with TSG was due to expire next summer.

Also leaving the club is midfielder Sandro Wieser. The 22-year-old Liechtenstein international, who was loaned out to FC Aarau last season, has completed a move to Swiss side FC Thun. Like Schipplock, Wieser’s contract at Hoffenheim was up at the end of next season.
