Köln match reaction

We got the reactions of Markus Gisdol, Peter Stöger and some of the players after the 3-2 defeat against 1. FC Köln.

Markus Gisdol: Köln deserved the win. The game had everything. We had an extraordinary amount of chances, but we didn't take them. We gave away too many chances at the other end and we didn't defend well. We started the match really well, but we didn't make it count and it was only through a penalty that we were given a chance to get back into the game. We need to recover after a busy week, analyse the result then start preparing for the final six fixtures.

Peter Stöger: It was an unbelievably intense game of football. We created chances, were always in the game and threw everything forward. With all those chances, the game definitely could have gone differently. We put in a great performance and we can be proud of that.

Kevin Volland: We were too wild in the first half at times, which made things easy for Köln. We had some big chances early on but unfortunately we didn't take them. We shouldn't be conceding three goals like that. We didn't defend well enough. The race for the Europa League spots isn‘t over yet, but it's a shame we couldn't help our chances.

Eugen Polanski: Today we had enough chances to get something from the game. We had some great opportunities to go in front earlier on, but we didn't take them. We need to start winning matches if we want to move up the table.
