TSG set new club record with a point in Hamburg!

Hoffenheim remain unbeaten in the 2014/15 Bundesliga after drawing 1-1 with Hamburger SV in the Imtech Arena. The visitors were the better side in the first half and deservedly took the lead via Anthony Modeste after 15 minutes, but Hamburg grew back into the game and equalised with 10 minutes left in the first half. The home side dominated the second half, but Oli Baumann was in inspired form to preserve a record-setting point for TSG.

Tactics and line-up:

There was just one change to Markus Gisdol's team from the side that beat Schalke 2-1 before the international break. Hungarian striker àdám Szalai dropped to the bench and was replaced up front by Anthony Modeste. Sejad Salihovic is still ruled out with his knee injury and Jin-Su Kim missed out as a result of a muscle problem. It is not clear when he will return to action for TSG.

The system remained unchanged, with the team lining up in the usual 4-2-3-1 formation. Pirmin Schwegler and Eugen Polanski looked to dictate the play from defensive midfield. Hoffenheim started the game full of confidence, which you would expect from an unbeaten side. Both teams fought strongly in an entertaining spectacle which featured plenty of goalmouth action.

Match highlights:

15th minute: GOOAAALL for Hoffenheim! 1-0: The first real chance of the game for either side is converted by Anthony Modeste. Pirmin Schwegler plays the perfect through ball to the Frenchman. His shot from inside the box goes through the legs of Drobny to give Hoffenheim the lead.

20th minute: Hoffenheim nearly double their advantage. Süle's header towards goal is kept out by a wonder save from Jaroslav Drobny. Roberto Firmino acrobatically volleys the rebound wide.

34th minute: GOAL for Hamburg. 1-1: Firmino loses possession in midfield to Müller. He plays the perfect through ball to Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who calmly guides the ball into the net for the home team.

43rd minute: The goal has given Hamburg plenty of confidence. A weaving run by Müller troubles the Hoffenheim backline but Beck recovers to clear it for a corner. The resulting set piece sees Heiko Westermann power a header just wide of the post.

45th minute: Elyounoussi almost restores Hoffenheim's lead after a clever pass from Kevin Volland, but he can't quite beat Drobny in the Hamburg goal.

46th minute: Almost a nightmare start to the second period for Hoffenheim, but Lasogga's shot is deflected wide for a corner. The home side win a second corner, as without Modeste's intervention Westermann would have put the home team in front.

55th minute: WOODWORK! TSG almost retake the lead. Roberto Firmino, who scored twice and assisted a further three goals in the Imtech Arena last year, lets fly from long range. His shot looks destined for the bottom corner but hits the post and bounces to safety.

65th minute: The duel between Lasogga and the Hoffenheim backline continues. Rafael Van der Vaart's cute pass finds the striker in the six yard box, but Oli Baumann once again manages to keep him out.

79th minute: WOODWORK! Lasogga appears to be on a one-man crusade against Hoffenheim today. His effort from the edge of the area after a rapid break from the hosts smacks against the bar.

83rd minute: Lasogga turns creator this time. His ball drops to Stieber. The striker is unmarked in the box and seems destined to score, but Baumann makes yet another incredible save to keep the scores level.

Moment of the match: Oli Baumann

Oli Baumann was on top form in the match and it would be cruel to pick just one of his saves out for today's moment of the match. He used every part of his body to ensure that Hoffenheim picked up a point in the game. His personal battle with Pierre-Michel Lasogga was captivating and it was the goalkeeper who ultimately came out on top.

Number of the match: 9

Today's draw in Hamburg sees TSG set a new club record. They have now gone unbeaten in nine Bundesliga successive games, which they have never done before. The team are in wonderful form and deserve huge credit for their performances so far this season across all competitions.
