Germany denied victory – Rudy makes late appearance

The Germany national team continue to struggle in their quest to qualify for the 2016 European Championship in France, as they only recorded a 1-1 draw against a battling Ireland side in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday.

While dominating possession and not allowing Ireland to any real chances, it took the reigning World Champions just over 70 minutes to finally break the deadlock. A quality strike from Real Madrid's Toni Kroos hit the inside of the post before settling in the net, leaving Ireland keeper David Forde no chance. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Sebastian Rudy was brought on for Karim Bellarabi in the 86th minute but he was unable to prevent Ireland from grabbing a late and slightly fortunate equaliser as John O'Shea made it 1-1 in injury time.
