FC Augsburg match reaction

We gathered the thoughts of the players and the managers after Hoffenheim's 2-0 victory against FC Augsburg.

Markus Gisdol:FC Augsburg are really tough opponents so we found it hard to establish a rhythm in the match. They put up a lot of resistance and disrupted us early on. I won't criticise the team today. We won 2-0. We can work with that. I think the fans will have a great evening.

Markus Weinzierl:We're disappointed. We knew what to expect today and wanted to put up a good fight from the start. We're leaving empty handed and that's a shame. It doesn't matter that the match stats were in our favour, goals are the only thing that count.

Adam Szalai:A win and three points are important to start the season with. I'm pleased that we got through pre-season and that our hard work was rewarded with a win today. We have a great side with fantastic team spirit, which is an important aspect in a team sport like football. I think we're heading in the right direction and we want to carry along that path.

Andreas Beck:The couple of minutes where we scored the two goals were golden for us. We could build stability after that and that was important. It really felt great out there today. It's a good first step, but of course we want to improve and build on this victory.

Eugen Polanski:The result is fine. We certainly would have taken it before the game. It was a hard-fought match from both teams, but we've ended up with the result which I think is deserved. We may not have played at our best, but for the first matchday of the season that's okay. Not many teams are at 100 percent at the moment. Now we need to improve and work hard. I'm looking forward to the next match.
