Eintracht Frankfurt match reaction

Here is the match reaction following TSG's 2-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Markus Gisdol:“It's been a rather eventful week for us. We started it with an unlucky result against Bremen, then we put in a fantastic performance against Schalke and today was another consistent display. We had big plans for the match but we also had a lot of respect for Frankfurt. We delivered a stable first-half performance and made better use of our counterattacking play after the break. We could have wrapped the game up earlier, but it's important for us to have turned a narrow lead into three points. We're delighted to have won the match.”

Armin Veh:“This was the umpteenth important game for us. The first half was pretty even, neither side wanted to be caught on the break. We didn't let anything through but we also struggled with our passing game. Hoffenheim set up well but we had the better chances in the first period. We didn't make the most of them though. We didn't want to be caught on the break in the second half either, but that's what happened. We dropped back after we conceded the first goal but we still conceded a second, which we didn't deal with well at all. We had our best spell after that because we risked more and tried everything.”

Kevin Volland:“It was a less spectacular game for us compared to recent weeks. We gave our all for 90 minutes. It was very important for us to get three points against Eintracht because it was a match against a side near us in the table. We sat deep in the first half and hardly allowed them to have a chance, but we didn't really have any either. We went blow for blow in the second half and it ended up as an exciting battle.”

Jens Grahl:“It was a hugely important win for us because we have extended our lead over Frankfurt by three points. Now we can go into the next game with a lot of confidence.”
