Werder Bremen match reaction

Here is the match reaction following TSG's breathless 4-4 draw with Bremen.

Markus Gisdol: “It's starting to get annoying now. We were superb for 43 minutes, then we concede a penalty and a goal that was offside and we go into the break at 2-2 instead of 4-0 up. Nevertheless, the team moved on quickly and scored another two goals. Then we got sloppy, conceded the third goal and it had to be the case that the last ball of the match landed right at the opponents' feet. I don't think we'll be capable of playing a normal game in 2013. It might please the spectators, but it could certainly be a little more relaxed for us.”

Kai Herdling: “I'll have to watch the game again myself. I'm not quite sure at the moment how it ended up like that. We ought to have won today. It hurts to only come away with a point. We've handed over a certain victory and we definitely could have done with the three points. At the end of the day, no one is interested in whether you scored yourself or not.”

Andreas Beck: “It's very difficult to experience this déjà  vu week after week at home, not being able to hold on to a lead. It doesn't do much for us in terms of the table, but the way we played today was a step in the right direction. We showed attributes that are important to have. Nevertheless, we were the better side. Four goals should be enough to win. We have to try and run down the clock better and get the win over the line. Of course, we're all a little depressed at the moment. We have to turn our focus quickly onto the game coming up against Schalke on Tuesday.”

Robin Dutt: “The spectators certainly enjoyed that, but us managers are left tearing our hair out. We had big problems at the back. That's been the case for a few weeks now. But the team has great morale. We came back twice today. The lads believe that they are still in it, right up until the last minute. The point is very important for us. We'll sit down and talk about the rest.”

Philipp Bargfrede: “Obviously, I'm delighted to have scored. To have done it after a long injury break is even nicer. The fact that we keep coming back shows the morale in the team. On the other hand, we have to make sure that we don't end up in these situations in the first place, but rather score the opener.”
