Bayern Munich match reaction

So äußerten sich Verantwortlichen und Spieler nach dem 1:2 der TSG gegen den Deutschen Meister aus München.

Here is the match reaction following TSG's unlucky 2-1 defeat against defending champions Bayern Munich.

Markus Gisdol: We gave as good as we got. If you want to cause Bayern more problems than that, everything has to go your way. We can't afford something like the deflected free kick for their equaliser in a game like this. I have mixed feelings at the moment. On the one hand, I'm happy that we caused Bayern so many problems. On the other, we've come away with nothing. We certainly deserved a point.

Pep Guardiola: Credit to Markus and his team. It definitely wasn't our best performance, but we've won. Not everything went to plan, so we'll have to work on our playing style. The meetings with Hoffenheim have always been close in the past years, but we had that little bit of luck.

Niklas Süle: It was my seventh game today and I would have been happy for a goal in any of them. But to score against the best team in Europe, that's an unbelievable feeling. Their second goal is on my head. I should have got rid of the ball much sooner. Our team performance was very good today. I think you could say that we did a good job, despite the result. I'm enjoying every minute that the manager gives me, especially in a game like this.

Kevin Volland: We conceded two frustrating goals today, although you have to say that Bayern had plenty of decent chances. But we had a few too. We played good counterattacking football. We fought with everything we had and made it difficult for Bayern, but in the end, it wasn't enough to take something away from the game.

Sebastian Rudy: We played well today. We went in front and had two good chances that we failed to take advantage of. Then we conceded the equaliser, but we still got off to a good start in the second half. Still, we didn't take our chances and were denied by Manuel Neuer. Their second goal came because of a positioning error. Nevertheless, I think we were tricky opponents today and fought hard. The fans were right behind us and the atmosphere was amazing.

Manuel Neuer: I handed them their opener. I don't know how that happened. I gave TSG a gift. We came back well after that though, grabbed the equaliser and then went in front in the second half. I think the result is fair because we had quite a few chances, so we deserved to win.
