HSV match reaction - Gisdol: “Let's not get carried away”

Here is the match reaction following TSG's 5-1 win against Hamburger SV.

Markus Gisdol:“We took hold of the game very early on. We didn't do anything in particular, we just defended well and were strong on the counter. Let's not get carried away with our performances and results in the first two games. There's still a lot of work to do. The fact is, the individuals can only shine when the team works as a whole.”

Thorsten Fink:“We lost to a better opponent today. Whether it's a goal too many or not doesn't matter at the end of the day. You cannot compare the current Hoffenheim with the Hoffenheim from last season. They were better technically, mentally quicker and wanted the victory more. There's no reason for us to change our goals after two games. Now we have to go to Berlin next week and get three points.”

Andreas Beck:“We're all relieved. To score five goals away from home and give the opponents hardly any chances is pretty impressive. We'll enjoy the moment but it's a long, old season.”

Alexander Rosen:“Our lads had a brilliant game. That's two good performances now and we've shown the kind of football we want to play. We can't say it's a good start until we're maybe four or six games into the season.”

Heiko Westermann:“I'm annoyed that we completely collapsed after conceding two or three goals. If you have a bad day, you can lose 2-1 or 3-1, but not like that. I'm speechless.”

René Adler:“That was an absolute catastrophe. Everyone played abysmally. There was too much space in midfield. There's not much the defence can do when five Hoffenheim players are barrelling down on them. I can understand the fans' unrest after a performance like that. We have to go and get something from next week's game in Berlin now.”
