Freiburg match reaction

Markus Gisdol: “You really get into the game as a manager. It was a really emotional and intensive match. I have to give my team credit – they came back from a difficult situation today. It was a game for the fans. Us managers would rather have seen something a little more controlled. We can't just sit back as a team though, we have to go for it. Freiburg did that today as well and so that's why the result was what it was. We were really up for it in the last few minutes and almost won the game.”

Christian Streich: “Coquelin's red card annoyed me. Then I said something to the referee for the first time in the game and I was sent to the stands. We have to live with a point. Obviously we wanted to win but our first red card upset the apple cart. We definitely could have won the match with eleven against ten. It was certainly an unusual game.”

Kevin Volland: “It's a bit of a shame that we couldn't win today. We had enough chances to do so. I lost my marker for their third goal and he caught the ball perfectly. Jannik Vestergaard picked me out brilliantly for my goal and then Baumann was a little too far off his line. Overall, it was a special game with a lot of emotions.”

Andreas Beck: “It was a very emotional and intensive match. So much happened. It would have been amazing to have scored the winner right at the end. To have conceded three goals from set-pieces is disappointing. We have to work on that. We'll take the point but we know we have to follow it up against Stuttgart.”

Oliver Baumann: “I'm happy with a point at the moment. We were probably closer to grabbing all three. We all fought incredibly hard. It's a step in the right direction for us.”

Julian Schuster: “That was a real derby today. I think 3-3 is a fair result. I thought that we would take all three points away with us though when we were 3-2 up. We put up a lot of resistance and came back twice after being behind. That says a lot about our character. It's a very important point for us. If we had lost it right at the end that would have been a real setback for us. When you score three away goals, you're hoping for three points really.”
