U21 European Championship - Sebastian Rudy: "Very good preparation in Cyprus"

On Sunday, the Germany U21 side finished their training camp in Cyprus ahead of the European Championship in Israel (June 5th-18th). Manager Rainer Adrion spoke to “dfb.de” about how pleased he was with the preparation. “The hotel and the training facilities were very good and the team got involved well.“

At the beginning of the training camp, the coaches worked in small groups, “because the Hoffenheim players arrived later,” said Adrion. Kevin Volland, Sebastian Rudy and Stefan Thesker were involved in Hoffenheim's successful relegation play-off game and therefore missed out on the first few days of the Chiemsee and Cyprus training camps.

Hoffenheim midfielder Sebastian Rudy spoke to achtzehn99.de: “The preparations in Cyprus were very good.” At the time of talking, Rudy and the team had just finished their first training session in Israel.

Kevin Volland revealed on Facebook on Saturday that he had to get used to the temperatures. After a cold spring in Germany, a change to the sun and 30 degrees Celsius was needed. Rainer Adrion also made a point of the climate: “We have someone who keeps us informed and our climate adjustment is in full flow.”

The Germany U21 side face the Netherlands (June 6th), Spain (June 9th) and Russia (June 12th) in the group stages.
