1. FC Kaiserslautern match reaction

Here is the match reaction following Hoffenheim's 3-1 win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.Ӭ

Markus Gisdol: We managed to get a reasonable result and put ourselves in a good position but I am not happy about large passages of our play. A number of situations were not finished the way I expected them to be. I am already wondering how we are going to sort this out. We will calmly gather ourselves and prepare for Monday.ӬӬ

Eugen Polanski: We knew before the match that FCK play good football. Nevertheless, we got into the game well. We weren't at our best for the first 15 minutes after the break. We were able to correct that though. We had the game under control apart from a few situations. It'll be interesting to see what happens at the Betzenberg but we've already shown what we're capable of in Dortmund.

Kevin Volland: We will start from scratch in Kaiserslautern. FCK are strong in attack. We will have to give our all for 90 minutes. We have to go one better in the second leg.

Jannik Vestergaard: It's a great starting point for us. I think we had a good first half but then we dropped off unfortunately. That certainly had something to do with how aggressively Kaiserslautern played after the break. We put up resistance and got the third goal. The atmosphere in Kaiserslautern is sure to be uncomfortable for us but it's up to us to change it. If we start the game well and put them under pressure, the crowd will pick up on that.ӬӬ

Sven Schipplock: As a substitute, you're looking to help out the team as quickly as possible. Obviously I was over the moon that I could do that so quickly today. The goal came at the right time. FCK had just started to put us under some decent pressure. We're only at half time though. We have to take this performance with us and be aggressive then we can leave the pitch in Kaiserslautern as winners.

Franco Foda: Everything is still possible on Monday. At home this season we've shown our strengths on a number of occasions. We've got make sure we keep a calm head. It's going to be an interesting game. We haven't given up yet.

Mohammadou Idrissou:
Hoffenheim are the favourites but fortunately we have the return leg in Kaiserslautern. 3-1 is two mistakes too many but we are strong enough to turn the tie around. Whoever or however we make mistakes, we are a team with an aim. We can beat Hoffenheim 2-0.

Alexander Baumjohann: We played a pretty good game actually and had the chance to take the lead early on. Then due to individual errors, we conceded two goals. That can't happen at this level. The most important thing is that we scored an away goal though.
