Training camp day two – technical drills

Marco Kurz has 26 players with him at the training camp in Portimao, but the afternoon training session was the first time they have all been involved. On the opening day, Marvin Compper was still suffering with stomach problems, but was able to complete a light training session on day two. Chris, Matthieu Delpierre, Pelle Jensen and Fabian Johnson (all muscle problems) are also not 100 percent fit, but were able to do some work with fitness coach Yannick Obenauer. The remaining players took part in a program of sprint exercises, tackling and finishing.

In the afternoon, the focus was on tactics in specific game situations. Kurz's assistants Günther Gorenzel and Julian Nagelsmann took control of the exercises, while video analyst Johannes Spors climbed some scaffolding to get a good view for the recording.

Wet feet

The coaches had a special cool down planned for the players at dusk, straight after the second training session. The unheated hotel pool is usually closed to customers over the winter period, but it was converted into a makeshift ice bath for TSG to help speed up the players' body regeneration after two days of intensive training. Hoffenheim know there is much more to come though.
