2013 Training Plan – Mission Staying Up

In front of a noticeably large audience of nearly 300 fans, Marco Kurz invited Hoffenheim's players to their first training session of 2013 on Wednesday. Cheerful banners and atmospheric voices went round the training ground, waking the training facilities from their winter sleep.

New manager Kurz welcomed the support of the fans: “I am pleasantly surprised by the reception that we received. In order for us to achieve our goals, working together is fundamental. This sign from the fans has definitely helped us”, said Kurz after the two hour training session. Before the team came on to the pitch, the new manager delivered his first speech from the changing rooms, along with assistant managers Günther Gorenzel and Julian Nagelsmann, as well as sporting director Andreas Müller.

Sebastian Rudy (rehabilitation post his foot operation), Roberto Firmino (expected to rejoin the team on Thursday) and Stefan Thesker (recovery training) were the only three players missing. Chris, Jannik Vestergaard and goalkeeper Tim Wiese all returned to training. After the intensive start to the year, attention now turns to the indoor tournament on Saturday in Mannheim (tickets are available at saparena.de). On Sunday, the Hoffenheim contingent then travel to Portugal for a one-week training camp.
