Salihovic celebrates runaway win - TSG duel ends in a draw

The first international games have been played and not all of TSG's first team members had a feeling of success. There was no winner in the battle between Jannik Vestergaard of Denmark against Filip Malbasic of Serbia. Sejad Salihovic however, celebrated a dominant victory over Liechtenstein. There we no other Hoffenheim duels, but Fabian Johnson and Daniel Williams of the USA suffered a surprise defeat 2-1 to Jamaica.

The USA travelled to Jamaica for their World Cup qualifying game on Friday night. In the first minute of the game, America took the lead but Jamaica came back to win the game 2-1 in front of their home crowd. Fabian Johnson played the whole game, whereas Daniel Williams was brought on in the 58th minute.

Sejad Salihovic played for Bosnia and Herzegovina in their qualifier. The Bosnians won 8-1 in Liechtenstein, with Salihovic playing the whole game and assisting two goals. Sandro Wieser was absent for the hosts.

Eren Derdiyok also had success in his game for Switzerland against Slovenia. Derdiyok assisted the opening goal and, despite one of his team-mates being sent-off, Switzerland held on to win the game 2-0.

Two friendlies were on the schedule of Philippine international Stephan Schröck. On Wednesday, his side drew 0-0 with Cambodia before winning 2-0 on Friday against Singapore. A third game awaits Schröck and his team on Tuesday when they play Laos.

For Germany's U21 side, Stefan Thesker and Kevin Volland were in the starting line-up for their European Championship qualifier against Belarus. Before the game, Germany were already group winners and as a result, could enjoy their 3-0 victory. Sebastian Rudy and Boris Vukcevic never took to the field.

Jannik Vestergaard and Filip Malbasic met each other in the deciding European U21 Championships qualifier. Both players were on the field for the full game as the match finished 1-1. In the final game of the group stages, Vestergaard will be hoping his club team-mate can earn a victory against Macedonia, so as to guarantee Denmark's Euro 2013 play-off spot.

Michael Gregoritsch was also involved in the U21 European qualifiers. He represented Austria in their game against the Netherlands. Austria lost the match 4-1 but Gregoritsch didn't take to the field.

Koen Casteels' Belgium U21 team played in the first of two qualifiers against Norway on Thursday. Casteels had to watch on from the bench as his side lost 3-1 to the ‘Vikings'.
