Reaction to the game in Kaiserslautern

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim moved to 37 points after a 2-1 victory away at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. What did the managers and players of the respective sides have to say about the result?

Markus Babbel: It was a deserved win. Unfortunately we didn't manage to kill the game off earlier; we had good counter-attacking opportunities at 2-0. It was clear today that we aren't yet in a position to maintain a high tempo for the full 90 minutes, and we need to work on that. But at the end of the day, we're pleased with the result, even if we won by a narrow margin.

Krasimir Balakov: It's ridiculous how we keep bringing these situations on ourselves. But the team did show a lot of character in the second half. Our chances of survival may look slim, but we will continue to fight in every game.

Tom Starke: This was a massive game for Kaiserslautern, but we wanted to get a result here as well. It was tight at the end, but we deserved the three points. It was really important to get a second goal because we knew Lautern would throw everything at us.

Andreas Beck: We wanted to win today and put some real daylight between ourselves and the teams at the bottom. Luckily for us, it went our way. But there are still things we can work on; Lautern were a tough team to play against.

Srdjan Lakic: It was emotional for me returning to Kaiserslautern. I feel for the club and the situation it is in, but I had to put that out of my mind. I really hope that they mange to stay in the Bundesliga.
